Admission Requirements

General Requirements

Applicants must provide an academic record to demonstrate their potential for success in the selected program. To be eligible for admission, the following admissions procedures must be completed.

The completed and signed application form.

A copy of the valid passport.

A copy of the Swiss residence permit, if applicable.

Six passport-size photographs.
They must be included with the application form or submitted upon arrival. Most of these photographs are required by local authorities for student visas.

Applicants must submit official, sealed records of study (transcripts, diplomas, certificates) from all secondary or university-level institutions attended as follows:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) specific requirements without entrance examination exam in accordance with the Article 1, paragraph 1 of the Ordinance of the University Council on Admission to Universities of Applied Sciences and Institutes of Applied Sciences of May 20, 2021
  • Foreign High School Diplomas/Certifications; Recognition of foreign school-leaving certificates is based on the Recommendations for the assessment of foreign upper secondary school-leaving certificates.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) or equivalent.
  • Swiss professional baccalaureate linked to initial vocational training in a profession related to the chosen field of study.
  • Swiss specialized baccalaureate in a professional field related to the chosen field of study.
  • Swiss Gymnasium baccalaureate.
  • Swiss professional baccalaureate or a specialized baccalaureate in another professional field and at least one year work experience in a commercial environment that enabled practical knowledge in a business profession.
  • Master of Science in International Business Administration (MIBA) specific requirements without entrance examination exam:
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in the related field of study.
Note: Applicants may request that these records be sent directly from the institutions attended.

Two letters of recommendation must be sent to AUS from instructors or employers familiar with the applicant’s past performance.

Motivation letter - An autobiographical essay of approximately 500 words reflecting the applicant’s individual development, educational and career goals, and motivation in seeking admission to AUS.

Curriculum vitae (CV) - A brief written account of the applicant’s personal details, education, career, and qualifications.

Evidence of work experience, if applicable.

Evidence of sufficient financial means – Bank statement, sponsor letter, etc.

Proof of English proficiency - Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required from all applicants whose native language is not English and/or who attended a non-English school or workplace.
  • TOEFL minimum score requirement IBT 80/CBT 550
  • IELTS minimum score requirement: 6.0
Note: Students whose English is not adequate for university-level work will be placed in the Intensive English program.

Applicants must submit appropriate test scores and records, if applicable:

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) for MIBA applicants. AUS GMAT institution code number is 0709. The GMAT may be waived upon evaluation of an applicant’s academic and/or employment records. Waiver requests may be made to the Office of Admissions. GMAT minimum test requirement is 450.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) for BSBA applicants graduating from an American high school. Non-American applicants are not required to submit an SAT score.

Note: Students accepted on a conditional basis and not meeting the GMAT and/or TOEFL/IELTS score requirements will be required to follow remedial courses in the specific subject areas.

GCSE A-Levels - Students who have obtained scores of “D” or above for the General Certificates of Education at the Advanced Level will receive transfer credit for BSBA courses.

13th-Year Programs - 13th-year programs such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) may be awarded transfer credit for relevant courses.

Placement Exams - Students who score sufficiently high on the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) and the Advanced Placement testing programs of the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) will be awarded transfer credit accordingly.
  • Certified translations in English are required for all records, not in English.
