The American Institute of Applied Sciences in Switzerland is in the French-speaking region of Switzerland, in La Tour-de-Peilz in Canton of Vaud. AUS campus is approximately one hour from Geneva and 25 minutes from Lausanne by train.

The Admissions Committee meets weekly to review completed applications. Expect a response within 10–14 days after submitting your complete application.

Yes, you can defer your entry once within an academic year. For longer deferrals you may need to re-apply.

We recommend allowing at least three months from application to admission. Visa processing may take longer for international students requiring a student visa.

We require students to have at least 26 points at the IB to apply to AUS.

The AUS Admission Fee must be paid by the deadline specified in the Offer Letter. If the deadline is missed, the application will be automatically rejected.

You can pay by bank transfer or online with a credit card. Payment options and banking details are indicated in the Offer Letter.

We offer two payment plan options: termly or annually.

Once you have paid the Admission Fee and sent proof of payment, the Office of Admissions will send a confirmation of receipt and instructions for the next steps.

Yes, all students are required to have health insurance in Switzerland. AUS works with various providers — you register only upon arrival and our Administration staff will assist you.

Non-EU/EFTA students must apply for a visa. After your application is completed, the Office of Admissions will send the documents you need for the embassy/consulate. Visa processing may take up to three months — apply early. Upon arrival you apply for a Swiss Residence Permit, which allows free travel in Switzerland and the Schengen area.

We provide all relevant documentation to support your visa application to the embassy. You must contact the embassy for specific requirements and to schedule an appointment.

Foreign students may work a maximum of 15 hours per week during studies and up to 100% during semester breaks (reported to immigration authorities). Students from outside the EU/EFTA may only start working six months after the beginning of their studies.

Your visa specifies the length of stay or departure date set by the immigration authorities and must be followed accordingly.

Yes, AUS provides several housing options, including single and shared rooms. Accommodation is not included in the tuition fees. See housing options →

La Tour-de-Peilz — center of town, 1 min from the lakeside, 10 min walk from campus, 5 min to train station.
Vevey — close to Vevey station and shopping, 2 min by train and 10 min by bus to La Tour-de-Peilz. All options are close to local amenities.

Choose between shared and single rooms (single rooms higher cost). All rooms are fully furnished with bathroom. Shared kitchen, dining area and laundry facility included.

You can move in one week before the start of the term. For earlier arrival, contact the administration team to confirm availability.

We provide AUS housing on a first-come, first-served basis. Students may search for private accommodation, but we advise staying in AUS accommodation for at least the first year for ease and convenience.

Once you have arrived in Switzerland, you will meet with the AUS Administration team, who will complete your registration as a student at AUS.

Your Student ID card will be issued upon registration as a student at AUS.

You will receive your timetable two weeks before the term starts.

Before you arrive, you will receive a ‘New Student Guide’ by email with important information regarding your arrival, what to prepare in advance and what to bring with you to Switzerland.

We recommend arriving at least one week before the start of the term to settle in and complete registration.

The train station of La Tour-de-Peilz is within a 2-minute walk from the center of town and a 5-minute walk from the AUS campus. From there, you can take the train to Vevey, Montreux, Lausanne, and Geneva, with fast connections to many other European cities.

Upon arrival, our administration team will contact you to schedule a meeting and guide you through the processes of registration as a resident in Switzerland and as a student at AUS.

The GI Bill® is an education benefit earned by members of Active Duty, Selected Reserve and National Guard Armed Forces and their families. Eligibility is determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Benefits can cover a percentage of tuition and mandatory fees based on length of active duty service.

You may be able to get money for school and money for your housing costs during enrollment.

AUS is an approved institution by the VA, allowing veterans to use GI Bill benefits for undergraduate or graduate programs in Switzerland.
